PATTANI - A mattress vendor was killed and his wife wounded when their pick-up truck was attacked by gunmen in Yarang district on Sunday morning, police said.
Pol Capt Pichit Nusong, a Yarang police investigator, said Paiboon Kamphaeng, 32, and his wife Wandee, both of Sukhothai's Sawankhalok district, were driving through village Group 1 in tambon Prachan when their vehicle was fired upon by a number of attackers who had followed them on another pick-up truck.
Paiboon was killed while his wife was seriously injured. The incident occurred at about 9.30am.
Police were investigating to find out the motive of the attack.
