Five were injured in one road accident this morning in Chachoengsao while about 20 more sustained injuries in another accident in Prachin Buri last night, police said.

Pol Capt Sit Pulwong, a police investigator with Muang district police station in Chachoengsao, said the five injured were among about 40 passengers on board a bus used by a chicken slaughterhouse to transport its employees to work.

Worawit Tantiarpha, 24, the driver, admitted he felt asleep behind the wheel before the bus slamned into the back of a ten-wheeled truck at about 6am today on Suwinthawong Road in Muang district.

In the second accident, Pol Capt Thirawat Yiam-on, an investigator with Prachin Buri's Muang district police station, said at least 20 people were injured when a bus carrying workers collided head-on with a pick-up truck on Suwinthawong Road in Si Maha Phot of Prachin Buri at around 9.30pm on Monday.
