TRANG - Police are being urged to find a pickup truck driver reported to have dragged two cats to their death behind his vehicle on Monday.

On Monday afternoon Facebook user Boll Kittiton posted a photo of a cat with a rope around its neck being dragged behind a Mitsubishi Triton truck.

According to the post, the photo was taken near a PTT petrol station in Yan Ta Khao district about 10.30am on Monday.

He wrote that he tried to catch up with the truck, but it went too fast.

On Wednesday Wisanont Jaiwang, an attendant at the petrol station on Trang-Palian Road in tambon Thung Khai, said the driver of the silver pickup was a frequent customer there.

About 10.30am on Monday, the customer had stopped by and rushed to withdraw money from an ATM in front of the convenience store there.

Mr Wisanont said he saw two cats tied by the neck to the back of the truck. One of them appeared lifeless,  but the other was struggling in obvious pain. Both had bloody wounds all over their bodies.

He, other attendants and nearby onlookers ran towards the truck, but the driver dashed back and drove off at high speed.

A customer tried to drive after the truck, but could not catch up with it. The truck turned into an alley and the two cats were later found dead in the vicinity.

A surveillance camera at the petrol station recorded the arrival of the pickup truck, but did not capture the driver's face.
