The suspect confessed at the conference that he had roamed Hua Hin as well as Cha-am district of Phetchaburi province and on his motorcycle at night looking for deserted offices and either empty residences those where all its dwellers were asleep.

He'd then use a screwdriver to break through windows and doors and made off with valuables including notebook computers, mobile phones, cameras, amulets and even automobiles.

Mr Kantapol said that he had stolen from about 20 places since September and sold the goods to people he knew and pawnbrokers to raise money to pay for methamphetamine pills.

Prachuap Khiri Khan police chief Pol Maj Gen Krisana Jaemsawang said the arrest should substantially reduce the burglary rate in Hua Hin and victims in both Hua Hin and Cha-am could look for their stolen valuables at the Hua Hin police station.
