Chinese nabbed for fake ATM cards

Police have arrested three Chinese men with counterfeit ATM cards and skimmers as they returned to collect the items left at a hotel.

Tao Xuan, 37, Lin Ching, 40, and Xong Liming, 28, were captured in front of the Emerald Hotel on Ratchadaphisek road on Friday. All were charged with fraud and possessing fake ATM cards, the equipment to produce them, and illegal entry into the country, said Kritphon Petchsodpraset, chief investigator of Huai Khwang police station.

Police seized five counterfeit cards, two blank cards and two skimmers during the arrests.

The capture followed an alert to police by a hotel employee who expressed suspicions about the items, according to Pol Lt Col Kritphon.

The three had checked out of the hotel and returned on Friday to retrieve the items they had left in a safe inside the room. The hotel employee called the police and the men were arrested as they were trying to leave the hotel when the police came to look at the suspected equipment.
