Lover sought for 2 Si Racha murders

CHON BURI - Police has hunting a drunken man who allegedly killed his lover and her six-year-old son while hurting her 12-year-old boy Sunday night.

Kittipong Thanomsri, 56, is wanted for stabbing Urai Puengpa, 45, whose body was found around 11.20pm in a ground-floor room at her house in tambon Nong Kham of Si Racha district. A broken stone pestle and a garden knife were found near the body.

Police investigators revealed that Urai's six-year-old son was sent to the hospital after been stabbed several times by the killer. He later died.

Her 12-year-old son told police that Mr Kittipong has dated his mother for more than a year. The man came home drunk early last evening to discuss his financial problems with Urai, but the woman refused to listen, so he hurt her, the boy alleged.

He then called police to mediate the issue, Mr Kittipong left.

The youth said that, In the middle of the night, Mr Kittipong returned with two knives and broke into the house after Urai refused to open the door. He began hurting his mother, so the boys tried to help.

The suspect allegedly hit the elder boy in the forehead and the youth hit back with the stone pestle. The younger boy was stabbed several times.

Mr Kittipong then allegedly stabbed the woman several times until she was unconscious and fled. Her son called police and got neighbour to take his younger brother to the hospital, where he later died.

The boy led the police to Mr Kittipong's house, situated two kilometres away, but he was not there.

Pol Col Suriya Chukiatsiri, an investigator at Nong Kham police station, checked area hospitals thinking the suspect might seek treatment for his head wound. Police will continue to hunt for Mr Kittipong.

Police speculated he might have acted under the influence of alcohol and felt pressured by his financial situation, which developed after a friend cheated him out of a substantial sum.
