The Taiwanese passenger was arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport on Monday on charges of alleged luggage theft while preparing for check-in for a China Airlines flight to Taipei.

He was caught with three Rimova bags, one Tumi bag and a pair of Cartier sunglasses worth about 100,000 baht altogether. One of the Rimova pieces is owned by Osuka Tatsuya, who reported to tourist police on Sunday that it went missing.

Rungrote Sayanprasert, deputy commander of the Tourist Police Division, said the 37-year-old Taiwanese was sent to Suvarnabhumi police station to face theft charges.

Pol Col Rungrote said Mr Tatsuya sought help from tourist police on Sunday to look for his luggage as he could not find it on a belt for Thai Airways International flight TG551 from Ho Chi Mihn City to Suvarnabhumi.

Police found that luggage allegedly carried by the Taiwanese man on Monday matched the bag reported missing and arrested him.

Pol Col Rungrote said Mr Yuting admitted stealing bags from passengers at the airport on Sunday and planned to sell them once he arrived in Taiwan.

The suspect said he did it several times by stealing luggage at the airport and taking it out of Thailand the next day.

The officer did not say which one of the three belonged to the Japanese visitor.
