Teen killed as rival gangs clash

A 17-year-old boy was killed and another seriously injured in a clash between two rival gangs in Huay Khwang district late Tuesday night, police said.

Pol Lt Winit Saengsila, the duty officer at Makkasan police station, said the clash in the Bang Kapi area between two groups of teenagers, about six to seven members each, occurred around 10.50pm near a bridge on the eastern rail tracks, which are lined with housing projects.

The gangs - one from Rong Poon and the other from Phet Phraram - met at the spot to settle their dispute.  The encounter ended up in a fight between them.

One boy, 17, died at the scene.  He was stabbed with a knife in the ribcase.  There was also a deep cut in his left arm. Another boy, also 17, were stabbed in the back and badly hurt.

The body of the dead boy was sent to Police General Hospital for autopsy.
