Six people were arrested and 25 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine seized in Nakhon Pathom province on Monday night, police said.

Office of the Narcotics Control Board deputy secretary-general Witthawal Sunthornkachit said at a press conference today that the six were apprehended after anti-narcotics officials searched a Surat Thani-registered Toyota pickup on Phetkasem road in Muang district.

The suspects were identified as Jato Jalo, 49, a Muser tribesman, Thawat Khamngern, 39, Taweesilp Srithon, 40, Pornthep Nenthong, 45, Kachornsak Aree-ua, 23, and Somchai Suwankham 45.

Mr Thawat was once arrested in Chiang Rai's Mae Chan district on charges of using methamphetamine on April 23, 2013.

Police said the suspects confessed to bringing the drugs from the North in an ice cream tank, planning to store the ya ice at a food store in Suphan Buri province.  The drugs were to be further distributed to customers in Bangkok, nearby provinces and the South.
