The police arrested 89 alleged gamblers and seized 24 fighting cocks and gambling equipment in Bangkok Monday afternoon.
Metropolitan Police Bureau region 1 chief Pol Maj Gen Pongphan Wannaphak and Din Daeng police raided a suspected gambling den on Soi Prachasongkhok 21 offering gambling on snooker matches and cockfighting.
At the scene near situated near Surasak Montree School and the Din Daeng police station, police found 12 decks of cards, 7 lists of football betters, 20 kathom leaves and 4,000 baht in cash. Police said Somboon Noisa-nguan, 51, admitted of owning the casino.
Police said 20 officers on motorcycles were employed to arrest the alleged gamblers quickly before they could escape. Those apprehended will face fines.
