Myanmar migrants nabbed in Kanchanaburi

A team of security officials on Sunday morning stopped a car at a checkpoint in Muang district of Kanchanaburi province and arrested 10 Myanmar nationals for illegal entry.

Lt Col Sathaporn Tiaphetdee, leader of a peacekeeping unit of the 9th Infantry Regiment, said the unit comprising 15 immigration and local administration officials and rangers stopped a white Honda at the Ban Phu Nam Ron checkpoint in tambon Ban Kao of Muang district for a search on being informed that a number of illegal immigrants would be transported along the Phu Nam Ron-Huay Nam Khao route.

Found in the car were 10 Myanmar nationals — nine men and one woman. They were arrested and charged with illegal entry.

The Myanmar driver, Ling Wanchai, 32, was additionally charged with human trafficking.
