Drunk prosecutor caught bullying police

The Office of the Attorney-General on Monday confirmed an alleged drunk driver filmed in a viral video refusing a breathalyser test and intimidating a police officer was a public prosecutor and an investigation into his behaviour is underway.

The OAG's public relations department said a fact-finding committee had been set up to probe the disgraced prosecutor and results of the investigation would be announced to the public.

The department said an initial investigation indicated the man on the video clip was a prosecutor. It admitted that his behavior was inappropriate and affected the public confidence in the OAG.

The 90-second video clip began circulating on social media on April 16. The incident reportedly occurred at a police checkpoint on Seree Thai Road on April 14.

The clip showed an unidentified man, apparently drunk, telling the officer who asked to conduct an alcohol test on him that he knew several senior police officers and could "remove the star" on his shoulder.

He then handed his name card to the police and asked: "Do you know who I am. See my position? Other police respect me." He then accepted the officer's request to go to Bung Kum police station in a challenging manner.
