Ukrainians captured over fake cards

Four Ukrainian men have been arrested at a hotel in Bangkok with 30 counterfeit ATM cards used to withdraw cash from banks.

Officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) apprehended Rustam Mamedov, 25, Lurii Lutsyk, 30, Vladyslav Ishchenko, 29, and Volodymyr Khudaiberdiiev, 25, at BS Residence Hotel on Tuesday, acting CSD commander Akkaradet Pimolsri said on Wednesday.

Police seized 30 fake ATM cards, two skimmers, and 9,500 baht and US$300 in bank notes.

The arrest followed an alert from Siam Commercial Bank about fake cards having been used to withdraw cash from machines of several banks in Lat Krabang and Onnut areas since Sunday. At least 130,000 baht has been withdrawn by the gang who entered Thailand on Sunday, Pol Col Akkaradet said. The data in the fake cards was skimmed from card users in the United States, he added.

The four were charged with possessing fake credit cards at Lat Krabang police station and all denied the allegations.
