A 39-year-old Russian man died after being beaten at a hotel on Pattaya beach of Chon Buri province late Friday night, police said.

The Russian national, whose name was withheld, was found unconscious in front of a room on the second floor of Lido Grand hotel in south Pattaya of Bang Lamung district when police rushed to the hotel, said Pol Lt Temtrong Rodsiri, a duty officer at Pattaya police station, who was alerted around 9.30pm on Friday.

The tourist sustained serious injuries on his body and bruises on his knees. Rescue workers administered first aid and sent him to Pattaya City Hospital. However, the man died shortly later, said police.

Hotel employees told police that the Russian was found lying in front of his room on the second floor. They rushed to help him and alerted the police.

Doctors found he had bled extensively in the abdomen, said Pol Lt Temtrong.

An initial investigation found that the tourist had rented the hotel room for one month and the contract would end in the next two days.

So far, police have not had any clues about his death but will examine the hotel’s closed-circuit television footage.
