Police had a confessed Erawan shrine bombing suspect re-enact his actions on the day of the Aug 17 blast in three Bangkok locations Tuesday amid tight security.

More than 100 security officers - and a media scrum - escorted Yusufu Mieraili, 25, through crime scenes at two apartments and a chemical-products shop.

Mr Mieraili, who taken into custody near the Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo province last week, allegedly confessed to passing a bomb-laden rucksack to a yellow-shirted man to plant at the Ratchaprasong intersection tourist attraction.

Re-enactments were carried out at the Pool Anant apartments in Nong Chok district, the Maimuna apartments in Min Buri district and the chemicals store in Bung Kum where Mr Mieraili allegedly bought explosive components.

The Pool Anant apartment is where a haul of bomb-making materials was seized and were Mr Mieraili's fingerprints were found on a container of explosive material. The first bombing suspect arrested, Adem Karadak, was captured at that location Aug 29.

At the Maimuna building, Mr Mieraili was seen on closed-circuit television frequently speaking with two Indian nationals who stayed in a room near the one where urea-based fertiliser and other bomb-related items were discovered on Aug 30.

On Wednesday, police will take Mr Mieraili to the Hua Lamphong railway station, where he allegedly gave the bomb to the yellow-shirted man, and to the Skywalk near the CentralWorld shopping complex where he is accused of photographing the aftermath of the Erawan attack.

Meanwhile, Thai media quoted a security source as saying that a foreign man named by police as a suspect Monday -- Abudusatu "Ishan" Abudurahman -- was the mastermind and financier of the Erawan and Sathorn pier bomb bombings.

Under interrogation, Mr Mieraili reportedly implicated Mr Abudurahman in the bombing plot. The 28-year-old suspect of unknown nationality left Thailand for Bangladesh on Aug 16, a day before the deadly bombing at the Erawan shrine, Thai media claimed.

Deputy national police chief Chakthip Chaijinda, who leads the investigation, said police were verifying reports that the money used to fund the Erawan attack and the failed Aug 18 bombing of the Sathorn pier had been transferred from a foreign country.
