Police arrested a 25-year-old transvestite from Udon Thani province for allegedly stealing a gold necklace from an Indian tourist in Pattaya late Tuesday.

Police watching ladyboys on Beach Road said they spotted a group of three transvestites approach tourist Srikanth Jayprakash, 31, around 11pm, hugging him as a distraction.

Officers said they saw Jakree Sawatnathee, 25, take the Indian's necklace without him noticing. Officers pounced and nabbed Jakree with the 13,000-baht chain.

The suspect had been arrested several times for stealing from tourists.
