PHUKET — A Myanmar man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a Russian man.
Police caught Naing Win, 28, on Thursday with a black Asus Z00D smartphone and a True Move SIM card and charged him with stealing or accepting stolen goods.
Dmitri Surkov, 32, who is travelling on a Russian passport, reported to police on Sept 13 that his smartphone had been stolen while he was on Patong beach in Krathu district.
Police found the phone was used on Sept 19 by Naing Win, a Myanmar national working at a construction site in the district.
When they found Naing Win at the site on Thursday, he had the phone and the SIM card with him.
Mr Surkov, having been asked to identify the phone, confirmed that it belonged to him.
Naing Win was sent to be interrogated at Krathu police station.
