5 nabbed, 736,000 ya ba pills seized in 3 drug operations

Narcotics Suppression Bureau police seized 736,000 methamphetamine pills and four kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine in three operations that netted five arrests over the weekend.

NSB commissioner Pol Lt Col Rewat Klinsesorn said Monday that, on April 9, Veerapong Tanoo, 27, was arrested after police stopped his van at the Phayuha Khiri checkpoint on the southbound Asian Highway in Nakhon Sawan province.

Found in his possession were 678,000 methamphetamine pills and about two kilogrammes of ya ice.

In the second operation, NSB police arrested Saknarong Simpiboon, 30, Ratree Boonkanha, 35, Nakhin Fuangsiri, 23, and Navapol Mataya, 20, with 18,000 speed pills, one car, two motorcycles and seven mobile phones at the car park at the Megahome department store in Chon Buri's Si Racha district on April 10.

Also on April 10, a team of police and soldiers seized 20 bundles of 40,000 ya ba pills and two kilogrammes of ice at kilometre marker 3 on Phayon Yothin road in Ayutthaya's Bang Pa-in district. Police were still looking for the owners of the drugs.
