Two more Rohingya migrants recaptured

PHANGNGA -- Two more trafficked Rohingya migrants who were among 21 who escaped detention on May 23 have been recaptured, according to media reports.

The migrants were recaptured at 9.30pm on Wednesday from a souvenir shop on Phangnga-Thap Pud road in tambon Tham Nam Phud in Muang district by Songyot Nakrit, the village chief of tambon Tham Nam Phud, and immigration police.

Twenty-one Rohingya Muslims broke out of the detention centre at the Phangnga immigration police. Fourteen earlier were recaptured and one was killed by police who said they fired shots in self-defence.

Four of the escapees are still on the run after the re-arrests of the two on Wednesday.
