Boy, 9, shot dead while on way to school

A 9-year-old boy has been shot to death on a public bus and a 12-year-old girl wounded in separate brawls involving rival technical college students.

Jatuporn Pholphaka, 9, known as Nong Thian, a Prathom 3 student at Wat Bamphen Nuea School, died yesterday morning after being rushed to a nearby hospital after being hit by bullets sprayed by a technical college student at the back door of a bus on which he was travelling.

    I am in tears over this senseless stupidity! What is so important about any one school that its students have to take up arms against another school?

    Many schools in the US have installed metal detectors - maybe it is past time to do the same over here.

    How about organizing a fund to collect contributions to the bereaved family?
