Sneaky passport gangs try new tactic

Lookalikes 'talent spotted' to aid illegal entry

Criminal gangs have found a new way to help their "clients" enter a country illegally without using fake passports which are often detected by immigration police.

In the past, gangs forged information on a passport while often using a genuine picture of their client.

Now, gangs supply genuine passports to their customers, but with a lookalike's picture.

I guess being paid to work isnt enough .We need to give a reward as well .

You mean, you want to offer them a bribe to do their jobs?

And how much easier it is to stitch someone up for the money rather than to catch a real criminal.

D1 - Direct rewards in an already corrupt law enforcement culture are like adding fuel to the fire. The result will be that low-level offenders with no connections will be rounded up and innocent people will get framed, so officers can make their quotas and collect the rewards.

Meanwhile, the "big fish" can easily continue to outbid the rewards offered by the government with their own payoffs. Ultimately rewards will only make an unfair justice system more so.

There are no shortcuts to good law enforcement - Officers need to be carefully selected, properly trained and fairly compensated. Finally, they need to understand that the consequences of corruption and abuse of power are certain and severe.

Want to bet they will take more then 3,000 to not find the irregularities?

The police in Thailand could really use a rewards system to enforce laws instead of turning a blind eye on all the traffic offenses. They would be more motivated to do their jobs and enforce the law to create a better society.
