Shooting of ex-MP may signal start of poll violence

Former Pheu Thai MP for Samut Prakan Pracha Prasopdee was shot last night in what is seen as the first election-related violence since the House dissolution on Monday.

Police inspect the car of former Samut Prakan MP Pracha Prasopdee after he was attacked last night. Five bullets were fired, hitting Mr Pracha in the back and shoulder. Political observers fear the attack could well mark the launch of a new round of election violence. TAWEECHAI TAWATTAKORN

Mr Pracha was shot in the back at about 9pm in the Phra Pradaeng area while he was driving his Toyota Camry to Phra Samut Chedi district after helping a local politician campaign for the provincial administration election.

As published in the BP a while ago, some politicians found it was cheaper to shoot the opponent than campaigning against him.

Thai means free. Can a country be free without law and order? If you don't stand up for others, they will be dead. And, they will not be there to stand for you when shout for help. Life means standing up for freedom. You don't just want to survive. Let's live peacefully.

"Police believe political conflicts could have sparked the attack."

What happen again? PAD? ARMY? OR Abhisit?

After 2007 Thai never live in peace.

Copy what philippines did to their opponents, machine gunned them all 50 of them. Yet you can still walk free, that's why philippine today is still a basket case state and the only export is their millions of citizens. They wanted other countries to feed, clothe and housed their millions of poor by giving them jobs and paying them, which they send money back to feed the corrupted government. Thailand can copy philippines and become a basket case

This reminds me so much of the way the 2500 suspected drug dealers were killed. Obviously not so many pictures then and also a big part in their bed, in their sleep....

The party plans to build mini-sports complexes in 7,000 tambons nationwide? The party must be blind! Most towns and village already have sports grounds already! They are called Schools!
