Police chase gang laying road spikes

Boat taxis under suspicion of rupturing tyres to boost trade

Police have vowed to arrest would-be profiteers who have placed metal spikes on flooded roads to stop rescue trucks from helping people.

The Flood Relief Operations Command (Froc) has received complaints from members of the public that many flood relief vehicles have run over road spikes and ended up with flat tyres on Ratchapruek and Kalpapruek roads.

Froc said the complainants made the same observations, that boat operators from central provinces were often seen near the spots where flood-aid trucks had hit the road spikes.

Pol Maj Gen Winaiknows immoral like the back of his hand - so you can trust his judgement on this. When it comes to motorcycle taxis or boat operators they will for sure bring these arch criminals to justice. Or will they ?

Now this information has made me feel equal, Thais also being used for financial gain from a minority of profiteering low life scum. Maybe they are just for example Tuk,Tuk drivers using their transferable skills. I wonder if these low lifes are also using a two, or even a five tier pricing system ?

I know there are plenty of BP posters who have their own 'side', but stories like this reveal that it's human (Thai) nature to take advantage.

Yes, there are unscrupulous rich people who exploit the poor - but it's unfair to tar all rich people with the same brush.
And here we have a story of poor people exploiting other people in the worst circumstances. But it's wrong to say that this is a poor person's act.

It's the act of a worthless scumbag - rich or poor has nothing to do with it.

Thank you for publishing items like this. Once in a while I start thinking that I know a little bit about human nature, but then something like this occurs.

Selfish greedy boat operators should be publicly shamed for such disgusting behavior .These were made in a local steel shop .The police should ask the steel shop who made them .I bet people on the soi know already .Motorbike taxis see everything .Maybe someone could draw a picture for the police to help them understand .

You are right, this affair has nothing to do with politic. But as you know if POLICE has nothing to get (money garantee) from the boat operators, POLICE will not waste time to arrest them !!!

We did hear the jet ski operators at Thailands resorts were headed to the flood zones to "help"...............................

What has this topic got to do with politics?! It has only EVERYTHING to do with police performance. The way I see it, words are cheap. "aggravates", "immoral", and all the words of comfort? It takes more than collecting boat operators' names and addresses to crackdown on these kinds of activities. Who holding the whip on the police?!

You are close........ Thai version of law and order and democracy is to remove overwhemly elected PM with military coup, stack the courts with your "yes men" judges and go after the PM with trumped up charges. Then remove the next PM for doing a cooking show on TV at the tune of $1,500 usd ...pennies

That is the real version of Thai democracy

Welcome to modern day Thailand 2011 where any Thai will screw over another Thai in distress for personal profit and gain. This is the new Thai culture. This is an example of not following the self-sufficient policy after being bombarded with mass media ads for expensive goods. What ever happened to Buddhism? This is a lost art in Thailand as well. Money has become the only God in Thailand, people will do anything to get their share. Greed is a cancer eating away at Thailand's core values. Greed that has filtered down from the hi-so's into the low ranks that want their share too. Fine example the leaders of Thailand have set with all the greed and corruption.
