Police: Suspected MP not cooperative

Samut Sakhon police on Friday issued a third warrant for Democrat Party MP Khanchit Thapsuwan, a murder suspect, to hand over a Glock .40 pistol and a Toyota pick-up truck to them for examination, Samut Sakhon police chief Thayarit Ekphaophan said on Saturday.

Pol Maj-Gen Thayarit said police investigators did this after the MP did not respond to the first two warrants.

Mr Khanchit is suspected to have shot to death Udon Kraiwatnussorn, president of the Samut Sakhon Provincial Administration Organisation, late last month.

It's regretable that the Khanchit saga has been allowed to denegrate into a pathetic comic opera that aptly demonstrates to the world how Thailand's political, legal and policing system really works.

The outcome of issuing three warrants for Khanchit to hand over his .04 caliber firearm was as predictable as the response an unwelcome visitor would get if he knocked on the door of a house where the lights were on, movement inside and nobody answered.. Far better police stop pussy footing around and execute a bloody search warrant... WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY'LL FIND.

This is one of the many examples explaining why neighbouring asian countries like Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore have foreign investments pouring into. These countries are developing so tremendously than Thailand, because they all share a similarity....a good judicial system that earns trust by the foreign investors.

If this MP was a member of the US Congress, his congressional immunity would be immediately revoked by the Speaker of the House, upon a recommendation from the congressional Ethic Panel. Next, a warrant for his arrest would be issued, and after he was arrested and formally charged with the alleged crime, a court date would be set, so, the wheel of justice could turn forward toward closure of either guilty or not guilty, based on all the evidence against him, just like everybody else (except the fugitive in Dubai, of course).

Right now, it seems like being elected to Thai Parliament is just a license to kill. Can a lawmaker put himself above the Law? I think not!

The gun will be long gone by now - the Vigo may take a little longer to “misplace” (gone in 60 seconds?).

Maybe he has better things to do than be bothered with annoying little men in tight brown outfits pestering him all the time.
