Anti-graft body hands down charge against Supoj

The National Anti-Corruption Commission has decided to bring a charge of being unusually wealthy against permanent-secretary for transport Supoj Saplom.

NACC spokesman Klanarong Chanthik said yesterday a subcommittee investigating Mr Supoj's alleged unusual wealth found some of his assets were worth much more than he declared.

Mr Supoj would be summoned to answer the charge on Jan 23 at the NACC office in Nonthaburi.

The rich and powerful have their own set of laws. In any civilized country in the world, this man would already be under arrest. However Democractic Thailand claims to be, the whole concept of justice for all simply does not apply to the rich and powerful. It should never takes weeks or months to figure out the math that a politician on a government salary CANNOT AFFORD all these luxuries. The fact this case has carried on so long is evidence the system is being tampered with.

All unusually wealthy Thai politicians, high ranking military personnel and police personnel need to be investigated for unusual wealth. One man used as a scapegoat while others continue to steal from the nation is laughable. No wonder Thaksin and his highly connected family have so much influence...they knows only too well how the system works.

He should be in jail while the police look through his paperwork and check out his alibi. I wonder if he tucked a way a bit of cash to pay off the police...or maybe he had enough pocket money on him to do that...this shouldn't cost so much...
