Police: Ample evidence against MP

Police have decided not to ask the House of Representatives to allow Democrat Party MP Khanchit Thapsuwan to report to investigators for questioning in a murder case, police spokesman Piya Uthayo said on Wednesday.

Pol Maj-Gen Piya said the investigators now believed they had sufficient evidence to back a case and the MP was no longer wanted for additional questioning.

Investigators should soon be able to conclude their case report for submission to the prosecution.

This makes a mockery of Thai law. Anyone else would have been locked up by now.So If one has a good lawyer one can cite all said such cases. This also shows the justice system is not a fair and just system. In any other country he would have been locked up by now. The world is watching this. and the terrorist issue also. The dems seem to have a lot of problems. They are now not a credible party. Abhasit should have made this member surrnder to the police.
Does this also apply to every person who lives in Thailand? The law is the law. justice is justice. It will have to as they set a presidence.

    Ain't that ducky ?

Some people are in jail when there is barely circumstantial evidence.
Some people are walking around free when there is "ample evidence"

More interestingly, why is PT seem so uninterested in booting out an opposition member who supposedly murdered one of their own ?

    What gives ?

If There is sufficent evidence and there seems to be he has committed the ultimate crime he should be locked up and if found guilty he should recieve a life sentence or executed. But this is Thailand and we all know well how seriously corrupt it is.His Position as a MP from the Dems means hes innocent. Therefore hes a free man.Sorry Thailand im bored of your corrupt business, get your act together before its to late. The international community is watching this one.

@3, and in any other country a MP does not have immunity from prosecution for murder. Any other country gives him his day in court to prove his innocence, or be proven guilty, and executed.

In any serious criminal case with ample evidence the suspect(s) should be arrested immediately. This should be independent of the wealth and status of the alleged criminal.
I wonder how this will work out: If the ruling PT decides with majority to (rightfully) remove the immunity of a DEM politician wanted for murder how can they argue to keep the immunity of the alleged red shirt terrorists MPs? Double standards?

I fear that another farce is coming up! Murder suspects protected by parliament?

Prove your evidence by arresting the suspect now.

Ample evidence but their hands are handcuffed.

I overheard somebody say this, "Why bother with a trial at all, they seem to have decided the case already, based totally on 'hearsay' probably and dubious witness statements. [probably paid for, one way or the other] In 'civilized' countries one expects a case to be judged on solid evidence, but this is Amazing Thailand where it seems anything goes. For a price, or to satisfy a powerful force."

Of course I would never dream of saying such a thing myself :)
