B1bn Pathum Thani drug bust

Police seized a large haul of drugs worth an estimated one billion baht after an early morning raid on a house in Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang district on Saturday.

Officers raided a two-storey house in the Summakorn Housing Estate as part of an investigation that had begun on Friday into the alleged use of a fake licence plate.

Police searched the house and found a total of 3,864,000 methamphetamine pills and 71 kilogrammes of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, hidden in a small room under a staircase,  said Pol Maj Gen Kamronwit Thoopkrachang, acting chief of Region 1 Police.

They should give the complainant a large cash reward for his efforts. If people actually got paid for turning in drug traffickers, there would probably be a lot more drug busts.

Too bad they let this Nipon Gunchart get away. Wow, what a name! He's probably on his way out of Thailand, if he hasn't gotten out already. No doubt he'll find an unconventional method to escape. Chances are, if caught, he'll eventually be facing the likelihood of a death penalty.

Drugs...it's a menace for society ...unfortunately it cannot be rooted out by suppressing it...as long as there is a demand there will be a supply of drugs ...best thing to do would be to reduce demand ... when the buying stops...then the supply will too .
But in Thailand and in most other countries of the world this has been and remains a difficult problem to tackle .... personally I believe that the best thing would be to legalize drugs .... that would lower the prize drastically which again would mean a lot less crime ... and I don't think that there would be more drug users because of that anyway ... but legalizing drugs is not going to happen so what else to do beside from trying to teach kids why not to take drugs.
