Army major held in drug trafficking case

An army major suspected of involvement in a billion-baht drug case has been arrested while a warrant was issued for one of his subordinates.

Officers of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau escort the arrested army major to an interrogation room.

Maj Piyanat Ketchamras, of the Engineer Battalion of the Third Army, was yesterday taken by helicopter from a military camp in Phitsanulok's Muang district to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau in Bangkok.

Drug trafficing, graft, corruption, rorts and murder are so prevalent here now that those allegedly intent on eradicating this cesspot such and its associated evils, will find it nigh impossible unless they do a damn sight more than merely - GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS.

One Military and one police officer!? They were probably the two who did supply all the drug dealers (approx. 2,500) shut dead during the TRT war on drugs! Outstanding! Sadly no drug dealer has been shut during AV’s term! Am I right Mr. hillfarang?

Renaissance, discussion 2. It's possible police will burn all those drugs but - NOT BLOODY LIKELY!

This is quite unique....mostly the military here and elsewhere are never keen to hand out anybody to civil prosecution ... so this is good news, looking forward to learn how it ends .

@hillfarang #6: Do you really think something will happen to clean up the police while Chalerm is in charge? Maybe the PT government will fight against the army backed criminals but I am not so sure that they will fight against the red-tainted police.

This is good co-operation between forces. Its a shame that the politicians are not the same.
They should see this as an example. I wonder whats is happening to the dem MP suspected of murder?

Only a major ? There should be huge rewards given for anonymous information leading to arrests on any corruption or crime .This organization will of course have to be run out side of government and police .

Does the army chief mean to suggest that the military has the legal right to - or at least: can - protect suspected criminals?
