Six held over B50m theft from businessman

Six men suspected of robbing an Indian businessman of foreign currencies worth about 50 million baht have been arrested in separate raids.

The six were identified as gang leader Kittichai "Nui" Muangsong, 46, Jitpanu "Ti" Wattanasasiroj, 43, Wichai Lohbanditsakul, 45, Udom Yimpornthana, 43, Wallop Khotchawong, 38, and Chuanchom Srichan.

They are among eight suspects involved in the robbery of Indian national Abdulla Rakuman, a foreign currency trader on Dec 30 last year, said Pol Lt Gen Winai Thongsong, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

    Why would anyone travel around with such a large amount as that? If these are business men they would have known better. It would have been in the bank. Have not the police thought why carry around such a large amount of money?
