Chuvit: I'll talk only to the police chief

Opposition MP Chuvit Kamolvisit insisted on Monday he was serious about exposing illegal casinos operating in Bangkok, but said he would in future give information only to the national police chief.

The Rak Thailand Party leader was responding at a news conference to Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit, who said on Sunday that some of his claims seemed groundless.

He claimed Mr Chuvit might have a hidden agenda because his information could discredit the government or national police chief Priewpan Damapong.

Nothing like a reformed pimp to put a cat amongst the pidgeons. I like Chuwit but there's no denying he's a total hypocrite.

It's good for society that there are efforts to reduce gambling. Interestingly, if those gambling den owners were related to PTP, wouldn't it be great if Chuvit actually got the Dem government to act on it the last 3 years? And if they were related to the army or police, why did he wait so long before he acted? Did he not have any faith in the Dems?

I would love to think that Chuvit is a devil-turned-angel. But having spent decades making money from the exploitation of women and children, it is doubtful he is as nice as what he is trying to project himself to be. Why go after gambling? Why not the brothel owners? He knows that business more than most, and in fact the Dems made a "massage parlour" tycoon a minister! Remember?

Let's be hypothetical for a moment and assume people are named and it results in discrediting the government and/or national police chief.

So what big deal nothing will ever come out of it. It's business as usual for the govt and police.

bkk-farang, discussion 2 is absolutely right: "his information could discredit the government or national police chief"???? IF they would follow-up on the leads given, they could benefit from them.

However, they are very unlikely to do so, because of their vested interests.

Perhaps legalizing casinos would give police and politicians more time to spend on more important issues. Legalization and regulation would create tax revenue, reduce corruption and create steady jobs. It seems people will have casinos legal or not.

Chalerm invented the I know the information but I,m not telling you idea . There are still casinos in Ekamai Soi 30 .

  • Discussion 3 : 30/01/2012 at 08:42 PM3

Unfortunately, nothing will be done about the casinos. Just one large casino pays the police 720 million Baht per year. There will be many such casinos. I live close to a very large house with a policeman's name at the front gate.

As for the country having any credibility in the international community, let's just say it was summed up at the World Economic Summit when all the reporters wanted to talk about with Yingluck was her fashion tastes.

“He claimed Mr Chuvit might have a hidden agenda because his information could discredit the government or national police chief Priewpan Damapong.”
If the police would do their job and Deputy PM Chalerm would do his job overseeing the police then there would not be nobody to discredit. What is PT scared about? Or are there any casino owners in our ruling party which PT wants to hide and protect – like their fugitive leader?

Hi, better give a proper portfolio to Khun Chuvit, so that his work contributes positively. Surely his intentions are good, but needs a proper channel...
