Security tight as jail braces for influx of drug-trading inmates

Khao Bin prison is playing a vital role in the battle against big-time narcotics dealers

Khao Bin prison in Ratchaburi has beefed up security in preparation to receive 200 notorious drug inmates being transferred from other jails.

Cells are cleaned at Khao Bin prison in Ratchaburi before inmates convicted of drug trafficking from other prisons move in. The transfer of inmates is intended to tackle the growing problem of drug trading involving prison inmates. TAWATCHAI KEMGUMNERD

Khao Bin has the best security protection system of all prisons in the country, said Corrections Department director-general Suchart Wongananchai yesterday.

    Even the famous Alcatraz cannot stop Thai drug inmates from conducting their business.

    If anyone thinks that Bang Kwang officials are going to lose their bread and butter to ratchaburi...they are out of their mind....just so that everyone knows, all the big wigs will still be in Bang Kwang...the govt is only moving middle offenders who are going to be the govts scapegoats.

    So why were they sent there before? The USA used to send its most dangerous convicts to Alcatraz Island, surrounded by rip tides which kept them from attempting to swim to freedom.
