Dem MP summonsed for murder

Democrat Party MP Khanchit Thapsuwan has been summonsed to report to Samut Sakhon police investigators and answer a charge of murder.

Pol Col Chamraeng Sudjai, the Muang Samut Sakhon police chief, went to the Democrat Party's Samut Sakhon branch office, Mr Khanchit's house, to issue the summons.

The MP is required to meet with police investigators on June 27.

'The MP is required to meet with police investigators on June 27' what a joke the legal system is in this country ! he should be arrested at dawn without warning the minute his 'immunity' ends.

About time too. Parliamentary immunity needs to be scrapped. If you are suspected of a crime you need to face trial. No matter who you are and from which ever side you are from.

    Discussion 2,
I agree with you, if the parliamentary immunity is scrapped we may see some red shirt parliamentarians accused of terrorism being in jail.

Lets not blame the man until proven guilty, blame the useless police. What were they doing? why did they wait so long? Law enforcement starts at the hands of police, they should be made accountable for such a long delay.

Because of his affiliation, the odds of him walking are without a doubt in his favor. But he may be sacrificed to give the impression the Judicial system is doing its job. If convicted, let’s then see if he actually does any time behind bars. Hopefully the media will cover this case closely so we can see what develops.

No wonder investors are looking elsewhere because simply they don't feel safe in Thailand. It is simply a joke to the developed nations around the world that a murder charge requires a 6 months period. This needs to be debated in the parliament instead of the reconciliation bill.

If he were not a VIP, they would have just gone to his house and dragged him into the jail, so he gets a week before he has to walk in and get bail because he is.

Waiting 6 months gave him plenty of time to influence withesses and fiddle with evidence .... anybody sure of his innocence would have been available to the police so that the crime could be solved asap ... whether this MP was in parliament or not probably did not make any big difference to anybody :)

Mmm, remind me, was this for incident that occurred this year, last year or the year before?

This case demonstrates how flawed a concept parliamentary immunity is.
