bkk-farang d20-Parliamentry immunity exists in Australia but covers only what is said in Parliament. A politician cannot shoot someone either inside or outside parliament and claim immunity.

"Hold on why cant T.S. claim protection by parliamentary privilege." Probably because he doesn't belong to parliament. The fact that this senator felt it necessary to place a loaded weapon on his dinner table tells us that he must have a few enemies. He obviously fears a visit by the hitmen and wants to be ready.

I don't know how these killers can show their face in parliament being protected by immunity. Oh, unless it's a brotherhood of the same.

It is very difficult to obtain a firearm legally in Thailand. I also wasn't aware that anyone was allowed to own fully automatic weapons. Did the senator just happen to pick one up at his local 7-Eleven? This will be interesting to follow. Anyone want to bet against nothing happening to him?

D20 taking up your point, doesn't parliamentary immunity exist in most countries to allow open discourse on the floor of the parliament free of fears of libel.

Do you know any country that grants immunity for any capital crime-I don't

maybe somebody can enlighten me: is it normal or even somewhat mandatory for Thai senators to carry loaded 9mm Uzi submachine guns with them? And if so, why?

Think about the stupidity of the "immunity law". A Senator could continue to buy his seat until the statute of limitations has passed in the event police determine a shooting was not an accident.

Personally , I think the immunity law is an urban myth. Even here where murderers get bail it seems impossible such a crazy law could be crafted that gives an elected MP immunity from everything forever. Whats the market price for one of these "free passes".

How would you be if you were visiting that restaurant and this clown came in with a machine gun under his arm. The Uzi is not huge but it does not fit in his pocket. Was this also on the approved "hand gun " list for parliamentarians and is it licensed. Come on Thai people, enough is enough. Lets protest at Ratchprasong against this immunity law.

... what if there would have been a family with children nearby, with the 'WHAT' a Uzi 9mm sub machine gun ? I thought Thai senators where supposed to be of intelligence, seems not. They're just like your everyday uneducated ignorant person. Who in their right mind whips out piece of killing machine like that without any sign of being attacked. Only a fool.
