New technology proposed for prisons

A new combined technology given the label "MIXCIR" has been proposed for use in coping with the problem of drugs and mobile phones being smuggled into prisons and to control detainees.

The proposal was made to the Corrections Department by Ukrit Mongkolnavin, chairman of the Independent Committee for Promotion of the Rule of Law.

Mr Ukrit said MIXCIR could be introduced at all 140 prisons throughout the country.

You would expect these systems to be bog-standard in any case, but as D1 says, the real issue is the quality of the personnel. Fix that and you will fix many problems without necessarily having a big capital budget. Of course, if your real purpose is to have a big capital budget, then ... ...

Um, someone always comes up with an expensive solution to a problem in Thailand. I wonder how much this is going to cost the tax payer and how much 'tea money' is going to be paid by how many people?

"However, the installation of MIXCIR technology would come at considerable cost and speccially trained personnel would be needed to run it."
The end of the rainbow! There are no shortcuts to solving the problems of prisons, which are overpopulated and understaffed. France has gone the route of using advanced technology in prisons, resulting in greater levels of Frankenstein enefectiveness and inhumanity.

How about just having better trained staff that do their job diligently .. all the hardware in the world doesn't mean anything if the people running it aren't doing what they are supposed to do.
