Gambling den for teens shut down

CHON BURI – Three owners of a grocery store were arrested on Monday for providing illegal gambling services to teenagers.

Somwan Buaban, 60, Surapong Khayan, 20, and Kriangsak Maneechote, 19, were arrested and police seized three slot machines from a store in Sattahip district.

Police said they had followed up on several complaints that many teenagers in the area were skipping school and hanging out at the store all day.

As wrong as the store owner is, the lack of judgement on the part of the teenagers is a direct result of poor parenting. One wonders how many of their parents gamble in card games, a past-time that is pervasive throughout the culture. Children learn such bad habits in the home.
