City man shot dead in taxi

A young Bangkok man was shot dead in a taxi on Friday night while his two vocational student friends were left injured.

Police have not established whether the dead man was a vocational school student but they say the incident may have been related to vocational school rivalries, which frequently turn violent in the capital.

Police said the shooting took place on outbound Phahon Yothin Road in front of Chatuchak market.

It seems a bit odd to refer to a university as "school" rongrian . It would be unusual to hear Rongrian Mahidol, or Rongrian Thammasat or ABAC for that matter.

What happened to the term "Kroo" and "Satrasjan" ?

22 years old and still in school?

Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps economic resources are an issue. Maybe he took time off to support his family. Maybe academic issues.

Ramkamhaeng University undergrad is famous for very patient students. Polite way of saying many do not graduate on time

The "something wrong here?" is merely a lack of understanding of how Thai people use English.

In England my wife would be a lecturer at a college - here she is a teacher at a school. All Thai college and University lecturers that I know call themselves teachers and refer to their college/university as "school", as do the students!

Students and the majority of Khon Thai use the word "Ajaan" (teacher) as a respectful form of address giving a (rightful) status to Ajaan.

My son is in his final year at "school" ... Khon Kaen University one of the top universities in Thailand. He calls it "school" and his fellow students call it "school".
