Provincial councillor linked to poll killings

Police probe seven murder and attempted murder incidents in Prachin Buri

It has taken five years to crack seven major criminal cases in Prachin Buri leading to the arrest of a prominent provincial councillor and accomplices linked to election-related murders and bid collusion.

Four suspects charged with organising bid collusion in Prachin Buri are brought before reporters at the Provincial Police Region 2 headquarters in Chon Buri.

When Pol Lt Gen Winai Thongsong crossed over as chief of Provincial Police Region 1 to Provincial Police Region 2 (PPR2) in October, he dusted off several unsolved criminal files.

Just to add a few other things from bkk-farang.

    1) What happened to the son of a famous actor who was driving a Merc and killed some people at a bus stop.
    2) The 17 girl who was in an accident with a van that killed 9 people

Has there been any follow up on the above?

The Ferrari police killer, the latest I heard from about a month ago. He was purposed to show up at the police station to acknowledge the charges related to the death or the policemen. However, he failed to show. I haven't hear anything after that.

'When Pol Lt Gen Winai Thongsong crossed over as chief of Provincial Police Region 1 to Provincial Police Region 2 (PPR2) in October, he dusted off several unsolved criminal files'.
And herein lies an important act that is discussed no more. Who was the old police chief and just why didn't he take any action?

we need more police officers like this - instead of the ones that sit behind their desk playing politics. These are the guys that should be promoted!

Well done to Pol Lt Gen Winai Thongsong and his brave men. Disc#1: dangerous work indeed. Let's hope the prosecutions lead to convictions on all counts.

Interesting, but I won’t hold my breath that the responsible politician and influential people will be arrested and end up in jail - not bail.
Is there a reason why the BP did not mention the name(s) of the political parties?
I hope the BP will follow up on this and keep us informed. There are just too many cases with influential people who somehow are never mentioned anymore.
This reminds me: What is the status of the case of the Ferrari police killer? And how about the politician with so many millions of cash at home that the burglars could not even transport it? Any news?

Supported by which local politicians? Why don't we ever get the names?

When people talk of PT and fair elections, the Democratic process, etc. this is actually what is going on behind the scenes all over Thailand. There is nothing fair or Democratic about the entire election process. The fact remains less than 1% of the provincial mafia is getting caught and they yield heavy influence in the outcome of local and national elections. Any one with a gun in Thailand thinks they are above the law, can kill, and make their own rules. Bravo to the police on this case. Democracy is a freedom to choose candidates, not being intimidated or killed voting for a rival.

UCA officers risk their lives to uncover and unwrap these web of mobsters.
Extremely dangerous taking into account that one never knows how high up "influantual people" are involved.
Back in the the states it took a decade to uncover modern day maffia tactics and methodes
it seems they left their murderous legacy in Thailand among others
