ATM frustrates thieves' best efforts(pix)

PATHUM THANI -- Thieves ripped an ATM machine from its mooring in front of a restaurant in Lat Lum Kaeo district early Monday morning, but despite their best efforts could not open it and fled empty handed.

The attempted heist of the Siam Commercial Bank ATM occurred outside the Dee Pochana restaurant, located 300 metres from Wat Chedi Hoi, in tambon Ku Kwang at about 2.45am, police said.

Police called to the scene found the heavily damaged ATM left on the road about five metres from its former position. Security cameras at the restaurant, and the ATM’s own camera, were sprayed with paint.
