A mother has been charged with child prostitution after being caught procuring clients for her 15-year-old daughter, Pattaya police said on Tuesday.

Pol Sub Lt Nithit Krairat, of Chon Buri police, said the mother, 42, and her daughter (names withheld to protect the child) were caught in a sting operation on Sunday night in a bungalow in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district. The mother charged clients 2,500 baht for her daughter's services.

Police said the mother admitted she and her daughter moved from Surin province to Pattaya last week.

I'd say that a few million people rely on some form of prostitution to make ends meet here. The government should legalise it, control it and start collecting tax on the earnings. The proportion of GDP from tourism would rise I reckon.

Under so much pressure to pay the bills that they need to sell their daughters and sisters! Amazing Thailand certainly has many issues to resolve, too many to be of concern to PM Yingluck and Co.

Let's see...2 sting operations in Pattaya. Well done Pattaya police. That probably leaves you only a 100, 500, or maybe just a 1000 or so more that need to be done.
