Abhisit to be questioned by DSI on police contracts

Former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will also be asked to testify about the abandoned contracts for police buildings approved during his government's tenure, Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Tarit Pengdith said on Wednesday.

Mr Abhisit's former deputy prime minister, Suthep Thaugsuban, is already in the DSI spotlight over the failure of the single contractor to complete the construction of  396 police station buildings worth 5.84 billion baht and 163 police flats worth 3.7 billion baht.

Speaking in the DSI's weekly press conference, Mr Tarit said his office had found evidence that eight construction firms had sent a letter to Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep opposing the decision by the Royal Thai Police Office (RTPO) to give a single company the contract to carry out both projects nationwide.

Pretty routine and by the book as far as DSI is calling up AV; certainly not targeted as the headline try to instigate. AV has a hand in approving the contract and there are evidence of fraud and therefore had to be haul up for questioning. See the similarity in another quite similar case whereby the spouse is required to sign on his wife's contract

djjp #8: What is more important - "winning" a race and bringing home a slice of bread, or "losing" a race and bringing home ham and eggs? To some people, face and ego means everything, so I do understand why you consider the rice scheme a failure.

And your simple economics is as amusing as it is senseless. I suppose you prefer hiring salesmen that will sell BMW cars at Proton prices? Oh, and you are trying to record a loss on the P&L when the product is not yet sold? Wow, genius.

You owe me a new keyboard. My coffee is all over. ROFL
Are you kidding? ... positive impact .. economic .. social well-being .. all Thais.
Shouldn't it read: .. positive impact it has on the economic and social well-being on some crooks and some millers and some farmers, paid by Thai taxpayers at the expense of the rest of the Thais future.

Tarit Pengdith should ask Sigmund Freud why all his dreams become nightmares where Abhisit and Suthep are always persecuteing him...

djjp #8 - If you or anyone who discovered and has evidence of wrongdoing or sabotaging, you can report to the relevant authority. I find your argument superficial. Looking at the surface and deny the overall positive impact it has on the economic and social well-being on all Thais.

CMfarang #11 - Certainly, the current government could have been on this a year ago. Do you know why the contractor wanted extension?

It seems the Democrats aren't as white as they pretended to be.

Corruption seems to be rife in every political party so maybe it's time for a big cleanup, and the Dems should have a spring cleaning in their own ranks as well.

So we can safely assume that since the contracts were to be implemented under the current government that Yingluck will also be called in for questioning? Right? Right?
I remember the chain of companies that were involved in the scanner scam at the airport. When it was determined that TRT had overpaid, no companies were asked to give the extra money back. It was already in someone else's pocket.

The firms also cited the RTPO's past failure in contracting the National Housing Authority (NHA) to carry out a police housing project because the agency could not complete it by the deadline.

Just what political party was in power during this problem? I will bet big big money that it is the old TRT crooks with Khun Dubai at the helm.
