Police hunt Karen girl torturers

Police have obtained arrest warrants and placed a 100,000 baht bounty on a couple accused of kidnapping and enslaving a young Karen girl after they did not show up for questioning on Monday morning.

Nathee Dangoon, 35, and his wife Rattanakorn Piyaworathamwas, 33, of Kamphaeng Phet province, were taken into custody and then released on bail last Thursday and were scheduled for further interrogation by police.

They are accused of abducting the girl known as Air, whose real name is not being revealed, when she was seven years-old from a farm in Kamphaeng Phet’s Sai Ngarm district on May 20, 2008, and taking her to their house in Muang district.

Have the international NGO's stepped up yet? This case is clearly a violations of Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the section that guarantees the right to life, liberty and security of the person, or because the child isn't Thai does she have no rights to be human?

I'm not a rich man but I would like to know if there is a fund for this child. I am absolutely sure that the vast majority of Thais are disgusted by this.

I would like to do something for her.

55555, I believe the word "POLICE" is not a favorable word for the majority of the Thai 'normal' wage-earner people. Of course unless one has paid and is being well protected by them. Therefore starting an article with the word POLICE might not be a good idea, the reader might not read the entire article.

'Police Hunt Karen Girl Torturers' The last time the police hunted anything was when they barbequed a protected species of mouse deer in Kaeng Krachan national park. Share the suspects' mugshots on every popular Thai social networking site. I've already posted it on Khmer440.com for what it's worth. Also let's be hearing from the judge who signed their release order [if in fact there was one]. I would be interested to hear his justification for the immediate release of serial child torturers.

Who didn't see this coming? When are the rules for bail going to be reviewed in this country? There is absolutely no excuse for people accused of a crime of this nature being released on bail of any amount of money. Disgraceful.

Likewise, I have just posted their mugs on my FB page and asked to share. Good idea!

I understand that this case was being weighed in the balance as the police had said there were no 'witnesses'. Yet again the insanity that if 'no one saw it it didn't happen' overrules COMMON SENSE.

Why would you grant bail to a couple who torture children ? Is there anything crime that isnt granted bail ? Give the girl free school and housing until she is 21 .

    Amazing ........
This is not Thainess but we have to share this. Evils are everywhere not fixed to a particular place or race. But whenever evils show up in our society who should the responsibility fall on? Not those wrong doers only but we ourselves should like to take it. Without cooperation the couple has no way to escape. Without communal cooperation we have slim chances to prevent from not happening such this ugly incident again.
