For those who have a problem accepting reality, Google the report in the Lancet (one of the worlds top medical journals), for "Drug harms in the UK: a multicriteria decision analysis". It's a concise assessment of current best knowledge of drug harm.

If reality is too much, a quick hit of Hennessy might help.

Quote from abstract: "MCDA modelling showed that heroin, crack cocaine, and metamfetamine were the most harmful drugs to individuals ..., whereas alcohol, heroin, and crack cocaine were the most harmful to others .... Overall, alcohol was the most harmful drug (overall harm score 72), with heroin 55) and crack cocaine (54)second ..

Meanwhile, it's a very convenient photo op. for the assembled officials, some of whom are also known to have substance use issues.

What this bust again proves is that demand for the product remains high among Thai citizens; that is, current Thai drug policy is a known abject failure. Is such foolishness persisted in for any reason other than to continue to profit corrupt officials and mafia scum? Drug busts like this do nothing to benefit any decent Thai citizen or Thai society; they profit only scum.

Were they merely irrational failures, that insanity might might be forgiven, but these unjust laws harm society.

Since the solid scientific evidence strongly suggests that alcohol is about equally harmful as yaa baa / ice when the social harm is taken into account with the personal harm, and it is the social harm that must justify any state action against users and dealers, then if yaa baa users must be executed, the identical logic and reasoning dictates that alcohol users, producers and dealers be treated identically.

So, are the beer Singha owners, champagne importers, and Johnnie B. sellers headed for the state executioner as the minister presumably believes they should be?

No government has ever won a drug "war" and no government ever will. It's too bad all this wasted effort is not directed towards catching or eliminating the terrorists who repeatedly set off bombs and commit atrocities in the South.

Is it just me but all this stuff seems to be happening just before the election when a senior policeman is trying to win the Bangkok Governers election.
    Coincidence, good luck or what?
