Tawee says transnational cases at risk from ruling

The Constitution Court ruling against the questioning of witnesses and use of evidence obtained from overseas could have vast repercussions, Criminal Court Chief Justice Tawee Prachuaplarb said.

Mr Tawee said the ruling could have a huge impact on criminal cases that require international cooperation.

The charter court on Wednesday ruled that evidence obtained from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where a key witness in the 1990 kidnapping and detention of Saudi businessman Mohammad al-Ruwaili fled, contravenes the constitution and so is invalid in court.
