PHETCHABURI - Police on Thursday arrested an army officer of sub lieutenant rank at Kaeng Krachan Special Forces Training Camp who is suspected of shooting dead a 29-year-old man from a drug rehabilitation scheme organised by the camp for money.
Raewat Promprasert was found dead by a resident in a forest about 500 metres from the army training camp on May 5. The camp was in tambon Song Pee Niong of Kang Krachan district. Police identified the suspect as Sub Lt Piamsak Sornpakdi, 40.
According to investigators at Kang Krachan district police station, Raewat was shot six times with a 9mm pistol including two bullets in the shoulderblade, two in the upper torso and two in the back. He was wearing blue athletic pants and a white T-shirt when his body was found in the roadside forest adjacent to the camp’s shooting range.
