The New Zealand High Court on Friday sentenced drug kingpin Gary Read to 11 years in prison.
The local press in New Zealand gave extensive play to the trial of the drug smuggler Gary Read, who made a fortune exporting methamphetamine precursors from Thailand.
Read, known as the king of pseudoephedrine for his Thailand-based smuggling empire, pleaded guilty to 74 counts of trafficking, unlawful use of a firearm, and charges of involvement of an organised crime group, according to a report by Yahoo! News New Zealand.
