The Civil Court on Tuesday ordered a doctor in Chiang Mai province whose liposuction treatment of a 17-year-old Mathayom 5 student led to her death to pay 7.43 million baht compensation to the girl's parents.

The civil suit was brought against Dr Chalee Kanchanarak, the owner of Chalee Clinic, by Kamol Muima and his wife Bang-ern, the parents of Siriporn Muima, the girl student. They sued for 12 million baht compensation.

Siriporn died in 2002.  A criminal lawsuit was filed on Dec 6, 2002 against the former doctor.
