Winning is easy, but governing is a curse

Winning the election could well be a stroll in the park for Yingluck Shinawatra compared to what lies ahead if she assumes the premiership.

Pheu Thai Party bigwigs could attempt to take advantage of her political inexperience to override her decisions, leading to conflicts.

Would-be prime minister Ms Yingluck will have to rely heavily on advisers, who will have an influence on whether projects proposed by cabinet members for her consideration are approved.

Remember the hopes and dreams when Barack Obama was elected president of the US? He turned out simply to be more of the same. I am afraid the voters are in for another disappointment with Yingluck. I honestly thinks she means well, but good intention have a way of fizzling out rather fast. And never forget that Thaksin picked her to run the country because he was sure she would do what he wanted. Let's wait and see what happens with our fingers crossed.

I have no hope, no expectation from this woman, not because she might not be capable, but because she is a real puppet. What/ who brings her here will take her out. The sad part is that this party/ group of people in the party is gambling our country's future on the innocent poor. The people cannot afford to run away after the collapse or near collapse of the Thai economy-- soon to be witnessed.

Guess the glass is half full depending on her detractors or sympathisers. We'll see what she made of starting with the cabinet line-up. She has suprised all at the polls and has the temperament & objectivity to be a good leader.

All the previous governments of the fugitive have failed. Despite setting up government buildings in Dubai, Montenegro and Phnom Penh, this one will fail too.

Hi, this article is negative, and least of any positive intent -- all the media drumming up "speculations" as # ggh. Those who expected Democrats to win, are lamenting this way. Agree # tansri, the challenges of this government similar to any in the world, and a lot of factors will count to make all issues work in favor of the people.

i think that the author was just getting the negatives out of the way she has an uphill battle.
she did over promise but we have yet to see her deliver. but she has to get to the job before we condem her . fair is fair. if shes just words .thailand has a habit of changing fast. you forgot to mention that if she fails to institute her populist policies you will create a new color of shirts bigger than the reds.maybay the cow meow clan .

The only decision Ms Yingluck is going to make is where to go for lunch. Why pretend is she going to do anything at all. Her face was used for the election and the public relations campaign but everyone knows who is really running the show. She will carry out orders and do as she is told.Nothing more.

Yes, Yingluck should have a chance and show us what she can do. I doubt any good will come out of a Shinawatra government but if they prove me (and many others) wrong that’s perfectly fine with me. Show us what you can!

My first concern is for Thailand and I'm sure that is shared by many others who have spoken out against certain activities and individuals involved with PT. I hope things do work out. However, the author of the article is simply expressing a concern over the past behavior and nature of PT leaders, not the least of which is her brother. Perhaps voicing doubt on her chances for calling the shots (or at least a few) and taking a real leadership role and being able to make some appointments and policies that put Thailand first, will urge her to prove the doubters wrong. In any event, I think the majority of voters who voted for PT voted because of her and if election is taken away from them this time, it will not be the Democrats that do it.

The challenges ahead of YS is no dissimilar from AV in the sense of master pulling strings. PT has won a majority in a general election. The bargaining power and legitimacy is much higher than Dem. led Govt. Make no mistake, YS will need to learn a lot. She has the benefit of TS/PT support but so as all things in the world, there are pros and cons. Let's move forward and see how it goes. As long as we do not stop democracy process we will move along.
