Pheu Thai puts trust in Pongsapat for city race

Tough fight set despite rival's tarnished record

The Pheu Thai Party's executive committee Sunday chose Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen as the party's candidate for the Bangkok governor election in a unanimous decision.

However, analysts predict a tough fight ahead for the deputy national police chief and secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB).

Pol Gen Pongsapat will run against incumbent Sukhumbhand Paribatra, the Democrat Party's nominee.

    Another typical Thai political campaign starting. He did, he did; They said, they said; TS wants, TS gets...get on with the real issues and make an improved life for all Thai's. Otherwise just another bout of mud slinging by all concered.

    It seems corruption is rampant in the PTP. Corruption is also rampant in the police force. But the again, half the PTP members are former police officers. Funny part is, their voters actually appreciate the corruption, as long as it benefits them too, which it does due to the populist policies.

    @nkk-farang, d7.

    All except the last are interesting questions that will not be answered. As for the last question, I think everyone knows the answer already, and it is not a secret, as about half the country actually prefers to be remote controlled.

    I am think Ploydonut d-1 clearly represents the reason democracy will not work in Thailand

    Why would anyone want to vote for anyone coming from the Royal Thai Police, an organisation tinged with corruption, and detested by so many in Thai Society?

    D2 Ploydonut.He dyes his hair,that tells us he's vain. Suk is "natural"-what you see is what you get.

    Another point; Maybe his clean record is from doing nothing. The drug situation is nothing to be proud of. It must have been embarrassing for Pongsapat to have Chalerm step in to get some action.
