The people of Bangkok can seek the removal from office of a city governor who fails to fulfil promises made during the election campaign, Bangkok's election committee chairman Taweesak Toochinda said on Thursday.
Pol Lt-Gen Taweesak was referring to Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva's observations that Pol Gen Pongsapat Pongcharoen, the Pheu Thai Party'candidate in the March 3 guberrnatorial election, might have breached the election law by saying in his campaign speeches that he would seek to provide bus and boat services free of charge and lower the rental of vending stalls at Chatuchak weekend market.
Mr Abhisit said Pol Gen Pongsapat's campaign promises might not be within the jurisdiction of the Bangkok governor.
