Maybe, if advertising on it's outer walls is allowed, we will see public toilets in BKK - no, not 4900 but maybe 3. Look up the "yellow brick road" where the Bentley is parked !

No point getting worked up or losing sleep over all the election promises from all parties, we know the plans, promise, promise, promise for the campaign, then nothing for the term. Onto the next story........

What about the toilets at all the Bangkok bus stops?

"Pol Gen Pongsapat called on the party's Bangkok MPs ( over 500 MPs in attendence ) and councillors to reach out to all households in the capital to explain his policies to them."

Don't these 500+ MPs have anything better to do, like maybe run the country? I guess not.

I wonder how New Yorkers would feel if all the US Republican Senators campaigned in NY city for a mayorial election? Their candidate would lose big time!

There already is a Chao Phaya River walkway north of Pin Klao Bridge. Almost nobody uses it. Why would anyone use a longer one? Thaksin had the bright idea to tear down the shops, restaurants and amulet market along the river south of Thammasat University to Wat Po. Instead, he would add a walk and park benches for tourists to watch the river barges pass by. The folks who lived and work there were up in arms, but he quickly dropped the idea.

@Disc11 - Actually, there are some bike paths in Bangkok. The one I used to frequent was on either side of the Chalongrat Expressway from Rama 9 Road past Ramintra Road, totaling more than 10 miles on either side. There are also bike paths on Sukhumvit and through Chanasongkhram, but both of those paths are for road warriors.

All a bit vague dontchathink? And 'He would also encourage trade through promoting local products from Bangkok communities and establishing new markets.' What 'local products'??? It was my understanding that Bangkok was quite possibly the biggest drop off and distribution center in the world!

Subways ,trains and parkspace .Garbage pick up in the day time is silly as it just creates traffic .Education reform is a national subject not just related to Bangkok .I think his promises sound like fluff .

  • Discussion 12 : 31 Jan 2013 at 11.2912

Each "promise" should have a date of start and completion, I.E. Traffic problem will be
worked on April 1 and completed April 30. If not, my irrevocable letter of resignation, to be effective May 1, is enclosed and on to next "promise" with resignation letter enclosed.

Interesting he mentioned a river walkway. Bangkok, like all Thai cities, has a paucity of parks and even less bike/jogging routes. A western city might have dozens or hundreds of miles. Bangkok has zero. Even if it had any, it couldn't keep motorbikes off them.
